Course Outline


																		Forklift Driver Training aimed to teach the new operators to prepare, safely operate and maintain this type of machine .
																	

Course Objectives


																		On completion of the four / five-day course, the operators will know: The machine identification, terminology and daily maintenance The safety aspects relating to the safe operation of this type of machine The effect of load size, weight, gradients and ground conditions upon machine stability.

After successful completion of the course, candidates are expected: 
	To be able to perform work in a safe condition which is subjected to dust, heat & direct due to handling different type of scrap Material.
	To expose constantly to climate, affected by work carried out.
	To be safe in workshop or on board vessels, in the Yard, subject to dust, harsh smell, noise
	To be Responsible for the house keeping of the docks in safe conditions.
	To be Responsible for safety working condition of all workers.

																		STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS:

INTRODUCTION TO THE FORK LIFT: 
Identification of Controls Identification of Parts Identification of Instruments 

DAILY INSPECTION TAKE OVER AND MAINTENANCE: 
Daily checklist Daily Maintenance Vehicle Condition Hydraulic condition 

REFUELLING PROCEDURES: 
Battery powered Gas powered Petrol or Diesel powered Lloyds British Testing Ltd

CENTRES OF GRAVITY AND LOAD STABILITY: 
Load Centers Fulcrum and Counterbalance Causes of Instability 

DRIVERS RESPONSIBILITY: 
Personal Safety Parking of the forklift Overloading Use of additional counterweights 

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: 
Accident involving fire Personal injury SAFE DRIVING PROCEDURES: No load condition Loaded condition 

LOAD HANDLING: 
Stacking Weight of load – Weight assessment Security of loads Loading and offloading vehicles procedures 

PRACTICAL:

Assessment and Certification


																		We include Lloyds British Certification on satisfactory completion and assessment. Instruction will be to UK LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998 statutory regulations and LEEA codes of practice. EN/BSS standards where applicable will be referenced. 

This Course is intended to be carried out on clients Premises and comprise both theoretical and practical elements. We will require access to a suitable training room for theory sessions and for practical operation facility (a forklift).
